We become what we think about.
Earl Nightingale
Changing thoughts can be one of the toughest things you may ever do in your life. You are dealing with life long mental thinking habits. Your thinking is a habit, experts say that about 95% of the thoughts you have today are the same as yesterday. The same thing goes for the day before that and the day before that and so on. Have you taken a good look at the way you think? Have you tried to change your thoughts about somebody or something. Try to change your thoughts about something you believe in. What will happen is there will be a flood of thoughts from your past to keep that old belief alive.
Change your thoughts and you change your world.
Norman Vincent Peale
What's keeping you from changing thoughts and beliefs is your ego. Let me explain, let's say you have a relationship with a member of your family, when you get together, discussions usually end in arguments. What are your current beliefs about that person? When you think of that person, what are your thoughts? Does it go something like this...they don't understand me? Why don't they listen to what I say? They don't care about me. Why do they bring up the past all the time? Why are they so critical about the way I live? They never invite me over. Why do they look down on me? They always have answers to my problems. Do you get the picture? Can you think about somebody in your life who resembles some of these thoughts? Now try to change your beliefs and thoughts about this person. Think about that person now, and when you get together, what a pleasurable experience it now is. I am sure you are laughing now. Come on, give it a try. What automatically comes to mind is all the past experiences you have had with this person, keeping that old belief alive. This is your ego, it doesn't like to change.
No problem can be solved from the same level of consciousness that created it.
Albert Einstein
You are today where your thoughts have brought you; you will be tomorrow where your thoughts take you.
James Allen
Changing thoughts come a lot easier when you use affirmations
Formulate and stamp indelibly on your mind a mental picture of yourself succeeding. Hold this picture tenaciously. Never permit it to fade. Your mind will seek to develop the picture.
Norman Vincent Peale
Are you willing to try an experiment? You can change the way you think of that person, you can't change the way they think about you. Take that person from above and think of them in a new light. Break down those negative thoughts and turn them around. Suspend all of your past interactions and preconceived thoughts about this person. Try some of these thoughts...I am grateful for you, for I am a stronger person because of you. Send that person unconditional love from your heart. Completely forgive the pain that person has caused you. Look at what they tell you, as they truly are trying to help you. You don't need to agree with them, just appreciate their suggestions. Picture yourself with that person, having a great time, laughing about your times together. Do it with emotion, feel the love between you. Let go of all of those past feelings of pain. Get yourself in a relaxed state of mind, feel very comfortable and allow these new thoughts and beliefs flow through your mind, spend some time sending these positive thoughts to this person. Keep that state of mind with you, while you go about your day. I would be curious of your next interaction that you have with that person. Sometimes you need to believe something before you actually see it.

I just finished reading an awesome book, you can read it in a couple of days, about changing thoughts. The book is "A Complaint Free World" by Will Bowen. Will is a lead minister at Christ Church Unity in Kansas City, Missouri. In 2006 Will shared his sermon to his congregation about his passion to create a world a complaint free zone. He handed out purple wrist bands to the members of his church and asked them to take a 21 day challenge not to complain. Now there have been over 6,000,000 people world wide who have taken the challenge.
